Structural Health Monitoring of Sutong Yangtze River Highway Bridge

The Sutong Bridge has a complex structure with numerous measuring points. It adopts a distributed network architecture. Multiple measurement substations are set up on the main bridge, and the collected data is transmitted to the system server through the optical fiber network. This architecture ensures the robustness and security of the system. The monitoring objects of this project are divided into three categories: environmental monitoring, action monitoring, and structural response monitoring. Environmental monitoring mainly includes temperature, humidity, and rainfall; action monitoring mainly includes wind, earthquake, ship collision, and structural temperature monitoring; structural response monitoring mainly includes overall displacement, rotation angle, bearing displacement, cable force, vibration stress and strain monitoring; self-characteristics mainly include the vibration frequency and mode shape of the main girder, and the vibration frequency and mode shape of the main tower. In 2022, the Sutong Bridge was upgraded and renovated in accordance with the "Technical Specification for Highway Bridge Structure Monitoring" (JT/T 1037 - 2022) issued by the General Office of the Ministry of Transport.
